Rosetta Stone Pictures Presents
The Ballad of Minnie Dean
A music video featuring Helen Henderson and Her Band
New Zealand native and Los Angeles transplant Helen Henderson debuts
her music video for her original song, "The Ballad of Minnie Dean,"
co-written with band member Doug Hamblin. Directed by Rose Bauer
and produced by Rosetta Stone Pictures, the video captures the mood
and spirit of the evocative myth of Minnie Dean, a New Zealander who
was the only woman legally hanged in the country, for allegedly murdering
children.
Helen Henderson and her band have released an independent, 5-song
EP, The Sonora Sessions. A nominee for the 2000 Los Angeles Music
Awards in the category of Best New Female Singer/Songwriter, Henderson
has spent time as a songwriter in Nashville in addition to her tenure
in Los Angeles. Her bluesy-rockin' tunes and performances have
been compared to Lucinda Williams and Sheryl Crow.
Recorded in Los Angeles, The Sonora Sessions was produced by Helen
Henderson, Doug Hamblin, Matt Downs and the Band, recording at Sonora
Studios. The video was shot on 35mm in various Southern California
locations found by Bauer that had a haunting resemblance to Helen's
native New Zealand.
